FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

The American Arena League (AAL) is proud to announce that professional arena football is coming to Eastern Texas with the addition of the Texas Desperados expansion franchise to Lufkin, Texas, where the team will compete in the AAL beginning with the 2027 season.

Following a long stretch of well-thought-out preparation, the organization is proud to announce plans to bring arena football to a fairly underutilized market. Ownership plans to bring affordable, family-friendly, action-packed entertainment to the region while staying competitive on and off the field.

While this is a brand new expansion team in a market that hasn’t had the sport in over a decade, the entire ownership group possesses the experience, know-how, and vision to build a franchise from the ground up.

They have plans to make the Desperados a permanent fixture in the city along with plans to build with and in the community as they grow and progress as a team and franchise.

Texas Desperados owner Jason was quoted as saying the following:

“We’re excited to bring the Texas Desperados into the American Arena League. We looked at every option, but the AAL made the most sense for who we are and what we’re trying to build in Lufkin. It allows us to operate in a responsible and affordable way without taking on a lot of unnecessary costs. That means we can put more into our players, the game-day experience, and our community. We respect every team in this league, but we’re not coming in just to fill a spot on the schedule. We’re coming to compete, represent East Texas the right way, and give the people of Lufkin a team they can truly be proud of.”

Additional announcements regarding ticket information, team operations, website, community initiatives, and player personnel will be made in the coming months.
